Dear Time Out New York….

Note: I apologize in advance, but this post is not about food. This post came about because there seems to be no real way (well, ok, there is Twitter) to voice my complaints about the new FREE version of TONY and how they seem to have screwed over their longtime subscribers/supporters. We’ll get back to food posts after this brief message, er, rant….

Dear Time Out New York,
Hi, it’s me, Lisa. I’ve been a subscriber since about 2001 and have enjoyed the magazine over the years. But, since you’ve ceased your subscription service and gone FREE to the public, this leaves many of us subscribers wondering, ‘where the Hell is my copy of TONY?’ See, we’ve already PAID for our subscriptions and have a year (or more) left on them and are not receiving our copies, even though you assure us on your site that our copy will be “hand delivered.” More specifically, I’m not sure what “hand delivered” means, but, it seems like a bad idea for those of us who live in the five boroughs. In NYC–or, any large metro area–many of your customers live in apartment buildings and, hand delivery translates to someone just tossing the issue of TONY on the front doorstep for anyone to take, which kind of defeats the purpose of having a PAID subscription in the first place. I’ve emailed your customer service department and been told that my subscription has been extended and I will get my issue delivered via USPS, or, actually placed *in my mailbox*. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one with these complaints/concerns. I think it was a poor business decision and a shitty way to treat people who have already given you money for a subscription. Thanks for taking my money. I hope it was worth it.

Yours,
Lisa
